JONAH FINDS A HOME!!!

Jonah, whose story of rescue has been featured on our homepage, has a permanent home!!  Marilyn and Art, who have been fostering our little boy, have decided Jonah needs to stay with them and their other 4 furry rescues - Wanda, Sandi, Nikki and Charlie.  So he has officially been adopted into their family.  The pictures that Marilyn has sent indicate that Jonah is very comfortable in his new home.

HELP WITH A LITTLE LOVE

It’s amazing how tender care and love can make such a difference in helping a rescued pet recover after being abandoned and injured.  This is Pet Pals For Life’s first update on Jonah, the little dog that has been featured on our homepage.  Jonah has been recuperating in foster care with Marilyn and Art and their four other rescue pups – Wanda, Sandi, Nikki and Charlie.  Marilyn and Art's expert care and devotion to rescued pets such as Jonah is evident in the progress Jonah has made since coming to their home.

Jonah has learned very well how to walk gently with his injured leg. He has also fit in beautifully with his foster family where his sweet nature has helped him make doggy friends with the other four rescue pups.

Marilyn reports: "Jonah is doing very well! The spot on his back where he had an abscess break at the vet’s office seems to be healing nicely! He still hobbles around on 3 legs and does not put much weight on the broken leg. But he does get around fairly well.  Jonah also thinks 'bed' is the most comfortable place to be!!!!"

Our Original Story About Jonah

SAVING JONAH

Abandoned.  No where to go. No one to help. Hit by a car.  Left with a broken leg, bleeding from the mouth, starving, matted, covered with ants and ticks.  Picked up and taken to the vet emergency clinic. Small, scared, traumatized.  Completely shaved to remove all the ants and ticks bedded deeply in his fur.

A kind vet who thought this little dog deserved a chance at survival called Pet Pals For Life and asked if we could help.  We said yes.

We have named him Jonah, a name befitting this little dog who is facing the challenge of surgery, a long recovery, restoration to good health, and then, the prospect of a new home with a family that will love him.  Jonah’s surgery to repair the leg and bring him current on other vetting has been scheduled.  He will then be placed into foster care with Marilyn and Art, two humans who share a passion and devotion to helping pets that have suffered severe trauma and injury.

There is no question this is the right thing to do.  Holding Jonah’s weak little head in your hands, and gazing into eyes that seem to say, “Thank You For Helping Me” reminds those of us in rescue what our mission is – to save, to help heal, and to restore dignity to pets like Jonah that have been cast aside.  He is so very sweet and gentle, even though life has not been kind to him up until now.  We believe Jonah to be a Bichon/Poodle.  The vet estimates his age to be somewhere between 1 to 2 years old.

Jonah’s journey to health and progress will be updated along the way.   We are looking for sponsors to assist with his vetting costs and recovery.  If you would like to help Jonah, email us at petpals@sio.midco.net

When Jonah has recovered, he will be looking for a loving home where he will be spoiled as a family pet.  Will that be your home?
